Revenge of the EV
"We are seeing the Earth being choked and it is we who are putting our hands around the throats of future generations by our careless actions. It's TIME TO WAKE UP! It's up to our Grandpa / Action Generation to step up and provide leadership and guidance to ensure Earth's Survival." - Abran Quevedo
(Oct-12-2008 - Wild Canyon Rd, Lakeside, CA) - Over 1600 people attended the 2008 KICK GAS FESTIVAL near San Diego, confirming a growing public interest in EV racing and electric vehicles in general. It was definitely a 'fuel good' EVent and a perfect chance to see numerous examples of EV's built by gung-ho EVangelistas, who brought their electrifying cars, bikes, motorcycles, and more to the charged up EVent, full of positive energy and hopeful promise.
NEDRA Nationals Highlights - Chip Gribben
Dennis Berube was consistent throughout the day running his S10 Quick EV at 101 mph on the 1/8 mile track, beating a gas-guzzling Camaro in the process; while Michael Kadie's 2SIIC Cobra made some scorching runs that really got the crowds cheering and the juices flowing. One of the first EV races was the S-10 and the Cobra. Pretty cool matchup! Michael and his gang brought a new electric T-bucket which made some good runs, as well. Kadie's Cobra was one of the record winners on the day, while Brian Hall of ThunderStruck Motors smoked the track with their super fast ReVolt - First in the motorcycles.
KICK GAS BLAST
Rounding out the rest of the racers were some cool motorcycles, Minh Duong's awesome three-wheeler which looks like a Sunbeam or MG sports car from the front, a couple GEMs, Bob Van Gorder's 144-volt CONY mini-pickup truck, a bright yellow NEV with custom painted flames, a really cool 144-volt Corvair truck conversion, Tedd Abramson's BIG utility ZeroTruck running a Unique Mobility drivetrain, Roger Derryberry's Mazda Miata and more. Our personal favorites of the day were Robert Lange's electric motorcycle and Tom Boyd'sZUUMER, an electric 3-wheeler with a patented 'truck' that allows you to ride and carve at speed. Watch Zuumer's Carve.
The KICK GAS FESTIVAL was a KICKGAS BLAST, with a capital B for badass, (which means it was good, but you know what I mean)!!! I'm especially glad they had so many bands and so much good music! Wild Canyon EVangelists are converting more than just their cars!!! They're helping to charge up the nation with more than just slogans and campaign promises and I think that's electrifying good news, don't you?!
Upwards and onwards,

Forty-one years ago the 'Summer of Love' brought hope into America's future. Now it's 'Make Fuel Not War' and 'Green Power', (a true return to 'Fueling Groovy' and 'Flower Power'). The 'boomers' once again have the stage (by the looks of most of those in attendance on Sunday), however, all ages were represented at the Kick Gas Festival, and the good news is, EV's are just about for EVeryone. It'll recharge your batteries and switch the power on 'upstairs', and that's for sure. Watch Videos and Connect with Kick Gas Supporters Worldwide
